Having worked here for almost 27 years, I have seen the organization grow by leaps and bounds to be a dominant telecom provider in the contact center market worldwide. The organization's core values remain the same as they were when I first started—trustworthy, innovative, friendly, and collaborative. Everyone is very supportive and team-oriented, ensuring that their team and others across the organization get the help and support they need to succeed. I'm thankful that I got the opportunity to work at ComputerTalk and contribute to its success over these years.
Back in 1999, I was looking for a better and more challenging Software Developer position. Through my ex-colleague Isaac Chan, who had already moved to ComputerTalk, I applied for a Software Developer position. I was initially interviewed for a position in the Research and Development Department. However, after the written test, two interviews, and a follow-up, I was re-interviewed for the Application Development department. This time around, I got the firm offer. Just one month before I started at ComputerTalk, I got married, so I became part of two families—one personal and one professional. The rest is history, and I'm still here after 27 years.
Working in the Application Development department keeps me challenged and involved with various customer projects. Each customer is unique, and so are their projects. Some customers have been with ComputerTalk for 20+ years, and I have had the opportunity to work on their initial project deployments and remain actively involved with them today.
In our department, we always ensure that any new programming tips, techniques, how-tos, lessons learned, etc., are shared in our weekly meetings. This ensures that any future projects are developed better and more efficiently.
A big part of working on the Application Development team involves supporting the applications that we have developed. That could be anything from meeting with customers and their technical teams to investigating customers’ issues reported to our internal Help Desk.
Another role that I get involved in is onboarding new team members to help them learn about our product and settle into our team. I also mentor other team members on programming techniques and answer any development-related questions.
With the advent of AI, we're now in exciting times from a development perspective. We've integrated AI into a lot of our applications, and our customers have now started using those AI-integrated applications.
I'm looking forward to continuing my contributions to my team and ComputerTalk.
